Dear Fellow Democrats:
This is an exciting time to be part of our grassroots Democratic Party.
I’m in this race to win because we need to change the culture of corruption in Washington to a renewed culture of service. We’re running this campaign based not on what consultants tell us could be, but rather on what our hearts and minds tell us must be … to make our nation strong again and ensure that every American will have the chance to reach his or her full potential.
Many folks have asked why I think I can win this race. There are several reasons, and I want to share a few:
♦ We are working very hard to raise the funds to make this a competitive race.
♦ The race has captivated the attention of local media, and many in the local press corps say the race is shaping up to be close. In fact, the Mountain Times of Watauga County says, “whatever happens, look for a close, razor-thin tally.”
♦ Even before our public announcement, the race gained national attention. One prominent national blogger said, “Billy Kennedy is who the founding fathers had in mind when they drew up plans for the House of Representatives.”
♦ Voters are overwhelmingly in an anti-incumbent mood. A recent CBS New York Times poll found that only 8% of Americans believe Congress deserves to be re-elected.
♦ Foxx is being challenged on the Right in both the Republican Primary and by an independent candidate who is aggressively pursuing the necessary signatures to gain access to the November general election ballot.
