President's Day Call to Action - - Your Voice is Needed! Monday, February 15th, 12:00 noon - 6:00 p.m. at Headquarters Keep the light on health care reform! Last week, an alarming new study published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services shows that health care costs increased last year at the fastest rate in more than a half century. Health care spending rose to an estimated $2.5 trillion in 2009, or $8,047 per person - and is now projected to nearly double by 2019. If we don't act, this growing burden will mean more lost jobs, more families pushed into bankruptcy, and more crushing debt for our nation.
Also last week, President Obama addressed Senate Democrats to urge lawmakers to continue their work on this issue even as Congress has shifted its attention to addressing the nation's unemployment rate. Let your voice be among those supporting a continued focus on health care reform. Join us next week in writing letters to the president, our representatives in the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate and generating letters to the editor to keep attention on the need for health care reform.
Drop by HQ anytime from 12:00 noon - 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15 to celebrate President's Day by speaking out. During this time, you can also learn more about how you can make a difference by volunteering your time this year - - even if it is only one hour a week. 2010 is important. Now is the time to get involved.
