Votes determine elections, not polls. This is our season to continue going foward in drive (D) instead of going backwards in reverse(R). As Democrats, we have the core values, diverse ideas that are inclusive for all Americans to benefit all Americans, programs that have moved all of us forward to insure Health Care, Education and opportunities for all Americans to pursue their aspirations to become fully engaged in realizing their American dreams and fundemental respect for each other that allows Democrats to agree to disagree without resorting to shouting matches in an attempt to drown out public discourse on issues that affect all of us. We are Democrats. Each one of us can make a tremendous difference in these critical midterm elections by asking all of our friends and associates to do the following: (1) Vote Early (2) Provide a ride to the polls (3) Call your civic organizations to action by asking them to call their neighbors and friends to remind them to vote early (4). Volunteer to go canvassing with a team from your headquarters for all Democratic candidates (5) Volunteer to participate in phone banking at headquarters (6) Ask your congregations of worship to vote early (7) Vote for the Judges, school board candidates, Senator Linda Garrou, Senatorial candidate Elaine Marshall, Representative Earline Parmon, Congressional candidates Billy Kennedy and Mel Watt, Jerry Herron for Sheriff, Representative Larry Womble, Susan Frye for Clerk of Court, Ted Kaplan, Walter Marshall, Everette Witherspoon, and Stan Dean for County Commissioner. Votes determine elections, not polls. Let's go get out the votes. Your Chair, Fleming El-Amin

Message from David Young, Chair of North Carolina Democratic Party - Week of August 16th |

I want to take a moment to thank the North Carolina Congressional Delegation and President Obama for standing up for our children.
This week, they approved legislation that kept 5,700 teachers in our classrooms.
Thanks to them, 1.5 million North Carolina children will arrive at the schoolhouse doors in the coming days with qualified, experienced teachers to greet them. That's something we can all be proud of.
Richard Burr's Republican cronies called this bill a "hand out" and a "bail out". Imagine what a slap in the face that is school teachers, police officers and fire fighters who educate our kids and keep our communities safe. It's also a reminder that we need to continue to support North Carolina Democrats, including Elaine Marshall, who has the vision and experience to move this state and this country forward. Unlike Richard Burr, she knows the difference between special interests and working for the real interests of our families, our children, and our communities.
Working together, we can continue making investments in education, get our economy back on track, and put our people back to work. Working together, the impossible becomes "yes we did".
Thank you for all that you do.
- David Young, Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party |

This past Saturday was the first DAY of ACTION for Forsyth County Democrats. Hundreds of homes were canvassed and telephoned on behalf of the entire Democratic ticket. The campaign workers for Jerry Herron, candidate for sheriff and those for Billy Kennedy, candidate to defeat Virginia Foxx were out in droves along with the many volunteers who want to see all of our candidates win this fall. If you missed this first of many coordinated efforts, not to worry, there are canvassing and calling opportunities everyday. Call us at 724-5941 and we will get you involved in the campaign of your choice! And remember, we can not win if we do not vote…so remind your friends and associates daily that early voting begins October 14th.
Thanks to all who came by our headquarters last Wednesday to celebrate President Obama's birthday. It was a wonderful occasion to celebrate, talk about what needs to be done in the next few weeks, and eat cake!!
