Annual Precinct Meetings Saturday, Feb 27 - Friday, Mar 12 Precinct meetings for 2010 are being now being scheduled. This is another critically important election year. We will be navigating the waters towards defeating Senator Burr and holding majorities in both State legislative chambers in order to influence redistricting conversations in 2011. Our local elections need our close attention as we elect leaders in our community in various capacities. Organizing and energizing our precincts is the first step toward a successful election year. Get involved today! Your precinct chair or a precinct organizer will be announcing meeting dates. Dates are being posted on our website www.forsythdemocrats.org. as they become available. If you are interested in helping with precinct organizing, please contact Jennifer Dale

Thank you SEC members for your participation at the meeting in Durham on Saturday. Special recognition to Delmas Parker for getting the resolution passed to make our local resolution efforts more meaningful and relevant to the State Party. As Democrats, we care about the present and future of our State. As Democrats, we have the best candidates with the most experience to continue the progressive work locally, statewide and nationally and who will respond to the needs of all Americans. During the primary, we must continue to work for the candidates of our choice so that in the general election we will be united to support the most qualified Democrats across the slate.

Smart Check-Offs
If you’re wrestling with filing your income taxes, you’re encouraged check your the federal and the state returns supporting political parties. The state Democratic party will reap benefits by your actions. Don’t forget the NC Public Campaign Fund, which funds the expenses of judicial candidates in their campaigns. Saying yes to the public campaign funds sends $3 to that fund. In all instances, checking these federal and state opportunities neither increases nor decreases your taxes.
Forysth County Democratic Womens’ Luncheon - Wednesday, March 17th
Meet our Court of Appeals candidates at the luncheon on Wednesday, Mar. 17, 12:30 at the FCDP HQ, 1128 Burke St. Our special guests will be incumbent Judge Martha Geer, Judge Jane Gray, and Leto Copeley. This is an important race and we want to have a good crowd to hear what they have to say.
Our lunch this month will be from Burke Street Pizza: Choices of cheese, veggie, and pepperoni slices, wings, salad, and dessert for $8. Please click on the link below to let us know that you will attend. Of course, you may bring your own lunch. There's no charge for attending the forum if you choose not to order the lunch.
Donation Levels Democratic Champion: $20.10 per month Sustaining Member: $20.10 per quarter Party Stalwart: $20.10 twice a year Party Supporter: $20.10 one-time
Your contribution is critical --- for example, 103 Democrats contributing $20.10 per month for the full year --- along with the generous on-going support of the Democratic Men’s Club ---- will guarantee that the party’s annual office operations budget would be met. Every dollar helps.
The work of our party costs money, and the many activities that we sponsor must be supported by loyal Democrats. With over 103,000 registered Democrats in our County, sustaining operations should not be as challenging as it is --- if every registered party member contributed $0.36 per year, we’d meet our annual administrative budget. In the absence of that level of support, we must ask those of you who feel a special connection to step up and give what you can.
The Board and a growing circle of active members are working hard to make sure that we raise all that we need to keep our office open and to support local efforts to gain additional Democratic victories. The 2008 presidential election was a unique time for us, and we saw an unprecedented number of people step forward under the Democratic banner. In 2009 we instituted the first “Democratic Champions” campaign to help bring in funds, and this year the Board has voted to continue the Champions drive with the “$20.10” campaign --- an effort to both raise necessary resources and highlight the importance of this fall’s elections.
Funds raised through “$20.10” will be directed towards office operations, leaving dollars raised from our annual gala and other events to provide additional support for GOTV, candidate recruitment and training, precinct organizing, and other important party activities. Please click on the “Donate” button to give what you can, or drop a check in the mail when it’s convenient. Democracy isn’t free, and neither is keeping our party alive and well.
How to Donate to the $20.10 Campaign:
1) Click the "Click to Donate" button to open the Donation Page. 2) Select $20.10 Option 3) Check "Make my payment a recurring payment:" 4) Choose a frequency and times based on your donation level.
e.g. a Sustaining Member would choose Quarter and enter 4 into the periods box.
5) Fill out the remaining information.

A Message from Billy Kennedy, Democratic Candidate for U.S. Congress, 5th District
Dear Fellow Democrats: This is an exciting time to be part of our grassroots Democratic Party.
I’m in this race to win because we need to change the culture of corruption in Washington to a renewed culture of service. We’re running this campaign based not on what consultants tell us could be, but rather on what our hearts and minds tell us must be … to make our nation strong again and ensure that every American will have the chance to reach his or her full potential.
Many folks have asked why I think I can win this race. There are several reasons, and I want to share a few:
♦ We are working very hard to raise the funds to make this a competitive race.
♦ The race has captivated the attention of local media, and many in the local press corps say the race is shaping up to be close. In fact, the Mountain Times of Watauga County says, “whatever happens, look for a close, razor-thin tally.”
♦ Even before our public announcement, the race gained national attention. One prominent national blogger said, “Billy Kennedy is who the founding fathers had in mind when they drew up plans for the House of Representatives.”
♦ Voters are overwhelmingly in an anti-incumbent mood. A recent CBS New York Times poll found that only 8% of Americans believe Congress deserves to be re-elected.
♦ Foxx is being challenged on the Right in both the Republican Primary and by an independent candidate who is aggressively pursuing the necessary signatures to gain access to the November general election ballot.
Your early support of my campaign is greatly appreciated and will make all the difference. I hope you will join me on this journey. To get involved, please visit my campaign website at www.billykennedyforcongress.com. I look forward to meeting you on the campaign trail..

Help Make a Sound!
We are frequently asked about items that would be on the party's wish list. One of these items is a portable sound system. If you have ever been to a party meeting (inside or outside) and had a hard time hearing the speaker, then you know how valuable this item could be. Our own Dan Bennett is leading an effort to provide funding for this much needed item. The total cost estimate is $1,000. The value of a sound system will only multiply as we look toward a busy 2010 with U.S. Senate and U.S. House races along with many local and state contests. If you can give a few dollars to this effort or if you have any questions, please contact Dan at 768-0942 or the FCDP at 724-5941. Donations will be accepted at headquarters.
